Bybit KYC in Nigeria: What You Need
KYC means proving who you are with an ID document and usually a photo or video check. Have a clear, valid document ready, make sure your details match it exactly, and only submit it inside the official app or website.
What KYC is and why it exists
KYC stands for "know your customer". Exchanges collect your identity details to follow anti-money-laundering rules. Without it, many features, including some P2P functions and higher limits, may be locked. Bybit requires identity verification before your first P2P trade.
Documents
Which documents work depends on the exchange and can change. For Nigeria, people commonly ask about:
- National Identification Number (NIN) slip or card
- International passport
- Driver's licence
- Voter's card
Bybit's help centre says it accepts original, physical government documents from your country that show your photo, name, date of birth and document number, such as a passport, national ID card or driving licence. It also says users in Nigeria can verify with their BVN or NIN. Scans, screenshots and photocopies are not accepted. The exact options appear when you choose Nigeria in the app.
Typical steps
- Start Identity Verification from your account settings.
- Choose your country and document type.
- Photograph the document. Use good light and keep all four corners in the frame.
- Complete the facial recognition check.
- Wait for the result. The app shows the status, and some cases need extra review.
Common reasons for rejection
- Blurry or cropped photos
- A name that does not match the document, including spelling and order
- An expired document
- Glare or shadows on the ID
If you are rejected, read the reason given, fix it and try again. Do not try to submit someone else's documents. That breaks the rules and can get an account closed.
Protect your data
- Submit documents only inside the official app or website. Nobody legitimate asks for your ID by chat.
- Never send your ID to a "support agent" who messages you first.
- Use a strong password and 2FA. See How to Set Up 2FA on Bybit.
Scammers pose as support staff and ask for ID photos to open accounts in your name. Only use the official app.
